Growing Food and Farmers

We all rely on the next generation of organic farmers for food security, community resilience, ecosystem preservation, and carbon sequestration. Currently only 1% of agricultural land is dedicated to organic farming.

Oz Farm is located on the unceded land of the Pomo People.

Our mission is to grow the next generation of organic farmers, and to increase the accessibility of organic produce in our community.

ABOUT Village Oz

Beginning in 2015, when Oz Farm changed ownership, we developed in-depth, season-long educational programming for 3-5 aspiring farmers who want to spend a season with us learning the ins-and-outs of farming.

Because growing farmers has become just as important to us as growing food, in 2020 we developed a 501(c) 3 to deepen and solidify our commitment to quality education. The 501(c)3 is affectionately called Village Oz in reference to the intentional community started here in the 1970’s.

Food Security

Through the adoption of a SNAP market-match program at our Farmers Market, accepting SNAP for CSA shares, and food donations to local organizations we are working towards local food security and accessibility.

Living at Oz was one of the most influential and important parts of my life. I learned so much about not just how to grow food, but what it takes to be a part of a farming community.

If you share our inspiration, your support through a tax-deductible donation will go a long way towards training the next generation of organic farmers and growing beautiful produce for those most in need.
