Office & Retreat Manager

Oz Farm is seeking a full time, residential Office and Retreat Manager. This position is for someone who enjoys living communally on the land.

Job Summary

The Office and Retreat Manager is responsible for correspondence with the public, coordination and preparation of retreat bookings, organization of calendar, management of budgets and accounting, and dispersal of payroll. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

  7. Valid California driver’s license with clean CA DMV record

  9. Passion for Oz Farm’s mission and work to educate apprentices, grow food for our community, and provide a beautiful space for retreats and events

  10. A thoughtful communicator and caring community member with an interest in intentional living

Primary Responsibilities of the Job

  1. Act as primary corespondent with the public by answering telephone and email

  2. Manage and coordinate all current, future, and potential bookings for the retreat

  3. Keep an up-to-date calendar of all weddings, retreats, and events on property

  4. Work alongside our accountant to keep financial database current and balanced

  5. Manage website and social media and write quarterly newsletters for mailing list

  6. Manage incoming mail

  7. Dispense payroll

  8. Manage budgets

  9. Update community members on Oz calendar in weekly staff meetings

  10. Wash bedding after guests stays

  11. Coordinate with house-keeping staff to ensure cabins and guest spaces are prepared for rentals

  12. Coordinate with grounds keeper to ensure green space around guest spaces is well maintained

  13. Coordinate with maintenance department to ensure safety and full functionality of cabins and guest spaces

  14. Prepare and facilitate seasonal gatherings and celebrations for Oz Community and outer community when necessary

  15. Contribute to farm apprentice education when necessary

  16. Work on projects that add beauty, art, and interest to the Oz grounds and buildings

  17. Occasional weekend work as Weekend Warrior to be predetermined with Managing Director

  18. Design and implement infrastructure improvement projects for retreat space including but not limited to budgets, timelines, and priorities.

  19. Be flexible with the tasks required for the business, depending on the needs of Oz Farm, which may include tasks other than those related strictly to the Job Description

Physical Requirements of the Job

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to maneuver on uneven ground, sit for long periods of time, occasionally carry and lift up to 25 pounds, and be able perform daily repetitive hand motions as it pertains to computer mouse and keyboard.

The nature of living and working together is unique; a strong sense of self awareness, boundaries & needs, and the ability to communicate respectfully is important

Compensation

1. Compensation of this position is commensurate with experience
2. 3 days paid sick leave and 4 weeks vacation in the slow season. 
3. Housing: We offer private housing for every staff member. We have a cabin onsite that will serve as your primary residence. In addition, we offer communal use of the Farm Kitchen and the entire land to inhabit and be a part of.
4. Food: Access to bulk staple pantry items. Harvest from the fields and orchards for personal consumption, or to take a dish to a potluck, etc. You must ask Farm Manager before harvesting large amounts of produce.
5. Tools: Use of Oz Farm tools for personal projects is permitted within reason and with respect to the needs of the farm.
6. Utilities: Propane, firewood, power, filtered well water, and internet are all provided.
7. Refrigeration and Storage: Private fridge plus shared use of Farm Kitchen fridge, and use of storage space on site for personal items.
8. Continuing Professional Development: To attend any workshops offered to the general public during the term of employment at no cost. This is conditional on the workshop having room for an additional student and subject to prior approval by the course instructor.
9. Pets: Pets are not encouraged, however, permissible by prior approval by community.
